Back pain, the cause of absenteeism from work and social obligations, is a pertinent social issue. It is indeed essential to be more aware of the structure of spinal column and how it supports the erect human form. Broadly the spine can be divided into five distinct regions; cervical region, thoracic or dorsal region, lumbar region, sacral region and the coccyx. I was so sick of eating right at the end of my pregnancy I sat down with a Coke and a big bag of M & M’s. The baby was born very early the next morning and had a caffeine buzz! He was up most of the first day (my other two slept almost solid the first day). Not only does caffeine get past placenta filters, it will interfere with calcium absorption. If mom is deficient in calcium, it will be pulled from her body (bones and teeth), so the baby will not do without (yes, it is that essential). So if mom isn’t absorbing enough calcium she will pay the price first.

According to a long-term Norwegian study of 51,000 smokers aged 24-34 there is just as much danger in heavy smokers or people that cut down to half their normal intake or cigarettes. The participants were assesed for risk and then studied for an average of over 20 years.
It found that men who cut back had slightly lower risk of death in the first 15 years but after that, death rates were comparable. It also found that women who cut back has higher death rates than that of heavy smokers but this could be an anomaly.
Researcher Dr Kjell Bjartveit said :
“It is widespread to offer smokers a last resort: ‘If you are unable to quit, cut down’.
“In our opinion, this advice may offer people false expectations. There is only one safe way out: To quit smoking entirely.”
