Acupuncture can be used to manage pain and avoid the use of prescription and over the counter drugs. Acupuncture may be fairly new to the Western World, but it has been around for over 2,000 years in China, it has survived the test of time. As pain medications are being taken off the market and the safety of the medications still on the market questionable, alternative pain relief should be sought.
For chronic pain when there is the possibility of long-term use of pain medication and increase risk of side effects, it’s even more important to check into options such as acupuncture.

Some suggest that growing pains don’t exist, but many children will describe pain that has no cause and may keep them up at night. Between the ages of 3 t o5 years old and then again between the ages of 8 years old and 12 years old children will have unexplained discomfort. During growing spurts around that time new muscles may become over extended with normal activity. The pain usually occurs at night. Heating pads or over the counter pain medication (don’t take aspirin because of the link with Reye’s syndrome) will help ease the discomfort.
